Jill Woolbright – Flagler County School Board, District 1 – Exact Speech
Good evening, and thank you for the opportunity to be here.
My name is Jill Woolbright, and I am running for the Flagler County School Board.
For more than three decades, I have served this community – as a classroom teacher for 28 years, a school board member, and a parent of children educated right here in Flagler County. I am not new to the challenges facing our schools, and I am not running to learn on the job. I am running because I have extensive experience, having delivered real results.
As a school board member, I advocated for policies that are now Florida State law—policies that protect parental rights, uphold transparency, and safeguard children in our schools.
I raised concerns about practices occurring in schools that kept parents out of important conversations about their children. By bringing those concerns forward, clarity and transparency were restored, and state law now clearly affirms parents’ right to be included in decisions affecting their children.
This election is about trust, proven leadership, and results while serving with integrity,
courage, and accountability. ~ Jill Woolbright
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I advocated for keeping schools open and for policies that put students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being first. As an educator, I raised concerns about prolonged school closures and masking practices and their impact on children. Research has confirmed that extended closures and masking caused significant learning loss and developmental harm—particularly for our most vulnerable students.
I also worked to ensure age-appropriate, academically sound instructional materials, supporting policies that now protect students from inappropriate content and reinforce parental trust in the classroom.
I partnered with parents, supported students, and held high expectations. Strong schools are built on strong partnerships. Parents matter: Parents deserve
transparency and a voice. Teachers matter: Teachers deserve support and respect. Students matter: Students deserve safe schools that focus on academics and growth. And communities matter and deserve skilled employees. My own children are a testament to what strong public schools can do, all 3 having graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School. Each graduated from a Division 1 Florida University going on to be successful in their chosen careers with my son first serving in The United States Marine Corp. Our schools prepared them for different paths—and that is exactly what our schools should do for every student.
I believe in common-sense leadership, fiscal responsibility, and schools that prepare students for college, career, or military service with the skills and character to succeed. While serving on the Flagler County School Board, I gained firsthand experience in budget oversight, policy governance, and accountability to taxpayers. Every dollar counts and every policy should put students first.
This election is about trust, proven leadership, and results while serving with integrity,
courage, and accountability. I would be honored to earn your vote and continue moving
Flagler Forward.
God bless you, and God bless Flagler County schools.
